Bagthorpe Hall, Saturday 18th June, 2022

We were welcomed to Bagthorpe Hall by Tid Morton in the entrance Hall, a high light space the walls covered with murals depicting some of Tid’s family history. From there one goes into a courtyard planted with box, roses and Annabel hydrangeas.

After several days of exhaustingly hot weather Saturday was chilly and wet. Around 50 members braved the weather to see the Morton’s recreated garden around the Hall. The garden has several stunning vistas and is surrounded by farmland on one side and parkland on the other. The roses were at their best and the replanted wall garden was a treat to walk around. There is a vegetable and fruit section with apple trees, a delightful summer house and mixed borders with a pleached avenue of limes.

Teas were provided by the Boston Tea Party and when the rain stopped the teas and cakes were much appreciated.
