On June 20th, 32 members of the Norfolk Garden Trust set off west to visit The Laskett in Herefordshire, the creation of Sir Roy Strong and his late wife Julia Trevelyan Oman.

The group also visited Bryan’s Ground and Hampton Court Castle in Herefordshire, Coughton Court in Warwickshire and Coton Manor in Northamptonshire. All were considered exceptional. One member of the group commented: ‘A heat-wave in Herefordshire; an air-conditioned bus with 30 congenial companions; five individual, perhaps idiosyncratic, but uniformly ravishing gardens; a comfortable bed…..and gold-star organisation.

This was the NGT’s first two night garden visits and, in the hopes of all those tired but happy travellers, not the last’.
