Melton Constable Hall - Grade II*

From 17th century onwards. Vast axial avenue layout replaced in 18th century Park, lake, formal south and west terraces, walled kitchen gardens, Capability Brown laid out park 1764-69, now much altered. Brown's lake - 8 hectares in extent; 17th century Bath House as Sham Castle Gothicised by Brown. Italianate terraces round house with balustrades, steps and urns, from 1845-50. Central fountain in octagonal pool. Two surviving Fish Ponds from an early design.
