Norfolk Gardens Trust seeks to stimulate an interest in all aspects of Norfolks Gardens:- their history, development, design, architecture and horticulture.

This applies to gardens, great or small in the county - from the great landscape gardens and estates of Norfolk, to town or cottage gardens - whatever their historical context, whether well-established or newly created.

Norfolk Gardens Trust clearly recognises that all gardens by their nature are living and thus changing things, and does not wish to see any wrapped in aspic. It wishes to encourage the appreciation and protection of the finest of our landscapes and gardens, including their noteworthy buildings, designs and garden features. At the same time it very much encourages the development of imaginative new gardens and garden features throughout the County, which will in time form part of our future heritage.

Norfolk Gardens Trust aims to encourage an understanding that Gardens form a vital and living part of our National, and County, heritage, and one that it is essential to protect. The greater the appreciation and understanding of the gardens, the greater is the chance of survival and maintenance.

Norfolk Gardens Trust is the prime body concerned with the preservation and enhancement of outstanding gardens within the County. The Trust was formed in 1988, and was among the first of the 34 County Gardens Trusts to have been set up in Britain since 1985.

In its role as a conservation lobby, Norfolk Gardens Trust aims to help promote the importance of an historical awareness in considering improvements to, or restoration of, gardens in the County. It stands to help protect Gardens and Landscapes threatened with destruction.
